Power control

+5V control

The total current of all USB +5V outputs and the +5V DC connector output should not exceed 1A. To control the +5V outputs, Pigeon uses power switches with the following features:

  • Overcurrent, overheating, and short-circuit protection,
  • Undervoltage lockout,
  • Reverse current protection.

If the fault persists for more than 10 ms, the FAULT output of the switch asserts low. The FAULT output is connected to GPIO43. GPIO43 = 1 means that everything is functioning correctly, while GPIO43 = 0 indicates that a fault condition has been detected (short-circuit, overcurrent, overheating, or undervoltage).

To turn off the +5V voltage, set GPIO29 to high. This voltage is connected to all USB host ports, the +5V output, the I2C/1-wire chip, and the CAN transceiver. Please note that when you turn off the +5V voltage, you also turn off power to all these devices.
